Vision
The vision of the department is to enrich the students' knowledge that help them keep abreast with the latest national economic and educational policy, the administration of finance by the reserve bank, the repercussions of the lpg (liberalization, privatization and globalization) the path in which the country travels the do’s and the dont's of public administration, the fluctuations in stock exchanges and bullion rates.
Mission
The mission of our department is to develop the skills of obtaining employment through various innovation programs and to furnish knowledge about the dynamic society especially to survive or to compete in the globalized economy.
Affiliation:
The Department of Economics was established in the academic year 2011-12 with 27 students to help the neighbouring students with the limited capacity to learn Economics. The Economics department strives to produce graduates who will be informed and able to participate in public and private decision making in which economic considerations are involved.

Economics Association
The Economics Department has started its Association activities from the academic year 2012 - 13 to create a relevant economic ambience in academic sphere. The association creates an ideal platform for revealing the hidden talents and potentials of the young student community. The Association plays key role in conducting seminars, guest lectures, workshops, and department level functions. Also the Association encourages the students to participate and present paper in national and international seminars and also encourages working together as a team.

Seminars and Workshops are part and parcel of educational activities. Conducting seminars among students helps us get more information about the particular seminar topic. Seminars also help us to convey the ideas and make students to think about new things.

ECONOMICS FEST 2017
The Department of Economics organized “Economics Fest 2017” (State Level Inter Collegiate Meet) on 5th Oct 2017. Around 161 students from 10 colleges participated. Dr. M. Saravanan M.A., M.Phil., PGDCA., SET., Ph.D. Assistant Professor in Economics, Vivekanda College, Nagarkovil Augestheswanam, conducted the Quiz competition, and Dr. J. Moses Gnanakkan M.A., M.Phil., SET., Ph.D. Assistant Professor in Economics, Bishop Caldwell College, Thoothukudi, conducted the Guess who ? Competition. The Valedictory address was given by the chief guest Dr.P. Prabhakaran M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. Rtd. Associate Professor in Economics, Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur. “Wavoo S.A.R. Rolling Trophy and Cash prize Rs. 1500 was secured by Govindammal Aditanar Women’s College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur, II Prize cash Rs 1000 was shared by two college’s St. Xavier’s college and Rani Anna College, Tirunelveli respectively. Economics Fest 2017, Overall Trophy was won by Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur and runner up was won by two colleges namely Rani Anna College, Tirunelveli and Govindammal Aditanar Women’s College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur.
ECONOMIC FEST-2018
The Department of Economics organized “ECONOMICS FEST 2018” on 4th October 2018. Around 138 students from 9 colleges participated. Prof D. Kathiravan M.A., M.Phil., SET. Associate Professor in Economics ST.John’s college, Palayamkottai conducted the quiz competition. Aalima Mrs. S.A.K.Muthu Mohudoom Fathima M.A, M.A(Arabic) M.Phil, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Arabic, Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College, Kayalpatnam conducted the ‘Guess who ?’ competition. In Quiz competition “Wavoo SAR Rolling Trophy” was secured by Govindammal Aditanar college of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur. The trophy for II place was won by Sarah Tucker women’s college, Tirunelveli and III place; trophy was won by TDMNS college, Kallikulam. Economics Fest 2018 overall trophy was won by Aditanar college of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur and runner up trophy were shared by two colleges namely Rani Anna college, Tirunelveli and Govindammal Aditanar women’s college of arts and science, Tiruchendur.
